Newly widowed, I had to move and had the good fortune to find myself living for two years on 150 acres in a rustic house. There were lovely views from the windows and many beautiful birds in the trees up against the house. There was a pond on the property and the redwing blackbirds would rise up from the cattails in the evening and swirl together over the pond. Their movement in the sky inspired the Blackbird Table.
